Hello there.
I didn’t write a blog post over the last two weeks as we were away on holidays. This time it was to Orlando. We had a ball. Our kids are 9 and 5 and are a brilliant age for it. In saying that you’re never too young or old for Mickey Mouse.
This was the first time we stayed at a property on the Disney site. Previously we stayed in a villa. I would definitely recommend it as it cuts down on travel time and parking plus we didn’t need to hire a car. Result. The Disney transport system is superb and for getting around outside Disney we used Uber which was simple and reasonable. There is no doubt that once you are in Disney or Universal Studios you are a captive market and the prices reflect that meaning if you are staying on site it can be expensive. My advice is to ensure you have the Disney dining plan. Offers show up time and again where you can get the plan at a reduced rate or for free. It is superb. You can eat in any of the restaurants around any of the Disney parks or Disney Springs and with all the credits you have to use on the plan you will be hard pushed to use them all during the length of your stay. Staying on site also allows you first access to book fast passes for the rides and book restaurant places well in advance of going. I recorded these hints and tips a few years back when I was last in Florida. It is still very much appropriate today.
Whilst we were there I took in my first NBA game. I have watched Basketball on TV over the years but never seen it live. It was incredible. End to end action and amazing production and entertainment pre game and during the in game breaks. I can highly recommend it. The Orlando Magic play in the Amway Centre and it’s about a 30 min cab ride from Disney.
Here are a few videos, which I hope you’ll enjoy from our trip including our day at Universal studios to see the Harry Potter set up. Ivana is a massive fan.
Back home, into work and thankfully I didn’t miss the Cool FM 30thbirthday party which had been planned by Rebecca who works on the show. Unfortunately due to being unwell she couldn’t make it. She did however organize one heck of a party and it was great to celebrate the milestone with the entire team. We even had karaoke and Paulo and I won the competition. Scenes!
If you listen to show you’ll know that my dulcet tones wouldn’t be great. After our success I reckon I know how to nail a karaoke performance. First up chose a song that the audience will be familiar with and know the words. Encourage them to sing along. If they do they will probably be louder than you and so the judges won’t hear you clearly. If the audience is enjoying it the judges will score you higher. For the record, our first round song was ‘Sweet Caroline’ by Neil Diamond. Our second round song was ‘Angels’ by Robbie Williams and our winner’s song was ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis. To be honest I’m still in shock that we won, lols.
Thanks so much for reading,
Pete
