It’s the countdown to my holidays, which I am really looking forward to; so no blog next week as I’ll be waiting in queues at Disney !  The final few days before you set off seem to drag don’t they?  I am in the midst of trying to tick off my must do list, it isn’t getting any shorter believe me.  Just as I think I’m making headway I end up adding more and more to it.

Pete, Paulo & Rebecca

This week has been a memorable one in my radio career.  Cool FM has posted its biggest listening figures to date and we have scored the ‘most listened to radio show’ title in Northern Ireland.   It’s a great one to get and Paulo, Rebecca and myself are extremely grateful to everyone who listens in regularly.  What also made the news so poignant was that Cool FM celebrated its 30th birthday this week.  In broadcasting terms many radio stations don’t see 10, 15 or even 20 years so to reach the 30 year milestone with the largest audience ever is something everyone involved with the station is incredibly proud of.  If you have tuned in over the years, thank you.

On Saturday night I DJ’d for my friend Chris at his 40thbirthday party. He wanted an old school theme, which suited me down to the ground.  I decided to record the evening so you can take a listen.  It’s definitely a mix to get you in the mood for going out on a Saturday night or to get you through your gym session.

We were invited to Fratellis in Belfast on Sunday to celebrate national pizza day. To be honest I don’t need any excuse to celebrate pizza.  It’s my favourite food !  Ivana and Elayna had a ball as they got to make their own pizza.

Elaine & Ivana at their work

I’ve been back to Ulster University this week hosting an apprenticeship evening highlighting the new wave of degrees available at Ulster.  I really enjoyed my time at university so to go back and contribute is always really nice and I’m always made to feel extremely welcome. Midway through last year I decided to try my hand at the speaking game and having spoken at many an event since on personal development, I’m back at Ulster in the coming days to discuss my journey from Uni to the working world of media which I’m really looking forward to.

This week I’ve been finishing watching ‘Californication’ which I never got round to when it first came out many years ago.  It is a great series and the closest to ‘Entourage’ which is still my favourite box set ever.  I’ve downloaded PT James Smiths audiobook ‘Not a diet book’ to listen to on the plane. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for reading.  Have a great week,

Pete
