Here we go 2020.  Today marks my first day back on the radio show after the Christmas break.  I have really enjoyed the Christmas period, but I do love getting back on air and back into some sort of routine.  Having made zero trips to the gym over December, I like many others am back at it today.  Even though I haven’t been at the gym, I have played a fair bit of golf, a bit of hockey and have enjoyed many a walk with the family over the holidays. To be fair the weather wasn’t too bad.

Christmas has given me the chance to enjoy a lot of family time but also to catch up with friends.  It was year 21 (I think) of our annual ‘Bangor’ boys dinner and also our annual school night out.  Great fun all round.  Julia, my girls, my Mum and I also enjoyed an overnight stay at Titanic hotel in Belfast between Christmas and New Year.  The rooms were great, as was the food:  but the most novel thing was that they put a tent in our room with a comfy mattress inside along with teddies for the girls.  They were so excited and loved it.

This was taken after the girls had made themselves at home lol

Christmas dinner was exceptional.  I really do love it, particularly the ham which Julia cooks in Cider, honey, mustard and brown sugar (I think that’s right!). It goes all caramelized.  It’s the crispy edges that do it for me. Christmas dinner leftover sandwiches in the evening were beaut, followed by the Christmas special of ‘Gavin and Stacey’. How good was that?  It certainly didn’t disappoint but the way it was left has left it open for a new series to be made.  Please let that happen.

Family Christmas

I was on the mic at the two Ulser Rugby matches over the holiday period.  The team are playing some wonderful rugby at the minute and beat both Connaught and Munster.  Two interpro victories means the team go into back to back European ties bursting with confidence.  It’s a good time to be an Ulster Fan.

It is also a great time to be a Liverpool fan.  I managed to get to Liverpool vs Sheffield United at Anfield just after New Year.  It was the first time I got to sit in the new stand.  It is incredible.  Not a bad seat in the house and cracking facilities, so getting food, a drink or going to the loo is a piece of cake with minimum queues.  Could Liverpool win the league after a thirty year wait? It’s looking more than good.  I stayed at the Jurys Inn beside the docks which was brilliant.  Comfortable beds (why do hotel beds always feel so good), super service and handy for a walk into town or to see the tourist attractions.

New Years Eve was superb.  I had drinks and food with my family, the kids were all very excited, there were party hats on and hooters going from mid afternoon !   I was bringing in the New Year DJing at 21 Social in Belfast and the atmosphere was amazing.  In fact I would go as far as saying it’s been one of my best gigs in a long time . Thanks to everyone who came out to party!

The DS7 Crossback

I am delighted to be driving into 2020 as brand ambassador for DS automobiles. I’ve been driving this silver DS7 Crossback which is an incredible drive, extremely quick, comfortable and has all the bells and whistles.  The finish is superb.  I will be highlighting my travels on my Instagram in the coming months.

Finally, new years resolutions……  Do you have any?  Have you broken them yet?  I only have one.  Simply, to have more fun than last year.  Here goes……

Thanks for reading and Happy New Year,

Pete
