Is it really October? I am writing this weeks blog having just returned after a run were I totally underestimated the weather. Track top and woolly hat on, I might as well have been in a sauna. The sun is shining more so than it did in July and August, but this I feel is the good before the bad arrives. Cold spells and lots of rain won’t be far away. As I left for work this morning at 5.20am the sky was clear, stars everywhere. It was nice to look at and no frost just yet. I laugh on mornings like that as the view makes me sing ‘Starry starry night to myself’. I always think of Malachi Cush, Tyrone’s finest and his performance on ‘Fame Academy’ all those years ago lols.
So Ireland left the World Cup at the Quarter Final stage again. It wasn’t to be against the ever impressive ‘All Blacks’. Something tells me the World Cup came a year too late for Ireland. 12 months ago we were riding on the crest of the wave having been crowned 6 nations champions and winning twice against New Zealand. Those results were history making for the Irish side and at the helm during that impressive run, captain and Ulsterman Rory Best. There really is nothing left to say about Rory that hasn’t been said before. An amazing leader and a top man both on and off the pitch. Over the years it’s been great getting to know one of the greatest players in Irelands rugby history. Thank you Rory for the memories, getting involved on the radio show and always speaking so openly and honestly.
So the ‘Brexit’ debate runs on. Looking at the lighter side of the Westminster debates (if there is such a thing); the speaker John Bercow has without question one of the best voices around. I put him up there with Peter Dickson, the voice of X Factor. I reckon John could have a lucrative voice over career once he calls it a day on politics. “Order’ or ‘Orderrrrrrrrrr’ or ‘Orrrrrrrrddddeerr’ does make me smile. I reckon he could be the voice of ‘Just Eat’ or ‘Deliveroo’. What do you think?
This week marks the start of Halloween celebrations with the kids finishing school for a week. For once I have my costume sorted well in advance! I haven’t tried it on yet though. I’m away to take it out the package to see if it fits! Enjoy pumpkin carving.
Thanks for reading….
