I write this weeks blog whilst sitting in the newly refurbished Jurys inn in Belfast where I’m hosting their relaunch this evening. I remember this place opening in 1997 whilst I was at school next door at Inst.  We now have everything in Belfast which I think we all take for granted sometimes but back then an international hotel chain coming to town was a big thing. I’ve just been shown around and it looks fab. I know what you’re thinking , it’s easy for me to say that when I’m ‘on the job’ but honestly the refurb is superb. Cool colours, contemporary, warm and welcoming  with a brilliant atmosphere and superb artwork in the rooms highlighting some of the famous landmarks across Northern Ireland.

This week I’ve continued to try and stick to my new regime of watching what I’m eating and getting to gym more frequently. I’m still going strong and it has become routine although after only two classes my trail period of yoga has fallen by the wayside.  I’ll try and get back to it next week. To be fair this gym regime is probably a lot easier in January when everything is a bit quieter so I’ll see how I go come February.

I am delighted to be hosting this years Belfast Business Awards once again. I attended the launch this week at the Grand Central Hotel. The event took place in the ‘Observatory’ on the top floor which is a brilliant space for an event of this nature. The views are incredible particularly during daylight hours. I took a trip to the north coast last weekend and had a ball albeit we chilled and played board games mainly. Portballintrae was the destination and it was first class. We went to go to the Bushmills inn on the Saturday for lunch but it was closed for refurbishment, no doubt getting ready for ‘The Open’ championship and an even greater influx of tourists. We ended up in the BBQ Barn at Creative Gardens in Bushmills which is brilliant for the kids with a great play area and lovely food and coffees for the adults plus a vast array of BBQ’s which I only wish I had a pot of money stashed away to buy.

I did nip over to the Coleraine showgrounds and got a great welcome from the board at the football club however my appearance didn’t bring them any luck as they got beat 2-1 by Dungannon Swifts. On Sunday before heading for home we had a proper Sunday dinner at the Ramore Winebar which never fails to be beaut.

It’s a working weekend for me this week as I am back on DJ duty at 21 Social in Belfast and on presenting duties at the Wedding Journal Show both Saturday and Sunday at Titanic Exhibition centre.

So February is finally upon us. I made it through January and achieved a small win by making sure I was up early enough to make my own breakfast and didn’t need to do a drive by McD’s for porridge and coffee for an entire month. Unbelievable!! I’m mega proud lols.

Hope you have a cracking weekend, thanks for stopping by,
Pete
